The Geely Emgrand is reasonably priced and packed with features. It looks great, has a clear 360-degree camera, and the 1.5L engine performs well even on the highway. The only downside is that the suspension is a bit stiff over bumps, but overall, I’m really happy with it.

Honestly, what bothers me the most is the fuel consumption. I've driven about 11,000 km, and it's still using more fuel than expected. As for the sales experience, the staff was polite, but not very reliable. They told me the window tint was high quality, and I believed them — but when I went to the shop they recommended, it turned out to be one of the worst types available. Even the guy at the shop said it barely blocks any heat! In the end, I paid AED 1,080 and got nothing useful in return In terms of driving, I hadn’t even reached 1,000 km before I noticed the steering wheel was off-center. Imagine that — a brand-new car, and this happens just days after purchase? That was seriously disappointing. And the things I liked? Honestly, nothing really stood out. The car's performance is average. I expected more from a 1.8 turbo, but the power only feels slightly stronger in sport mode. In the other modes, it feels just like a regular 2.0 naturally aspirated engine — not much difference at all. As for the features they hyped up, like the ambient lighting, it turned out to be just a tiny strip next to the screen — kind of a joke, really. When I picked up the car, the protective film was only on the B-pillar and above the sun visor — nowhere else. It honestly made me question whether the car was truly new. Overall, I expected a lot more, especially for a new car at this price point. Unfortunately, the whole experience raised a lot of red flags.

Geely Coolray

3.9
Honestly, from the first glance, the Geely Coolray gives off a seriously sporty vibe. The front has an aggressive grille and a lower spoiler that looks like carbon fiber. The side mirrors have the same carbon-style design, and in the back, there's a stylish open wing and quad exhaust pipes that really complete the aggressive look. The version I got has some features that are locked, but they can be upgraded later on without much hassle. Before I bought it, I considered cars like the Toyota Corolla, Yaris Cross, and even hybrids like the Corolla Hybrid and Drive. I also looked at Honda models like the XRV and Civic. But they were all noticeably more expensive, and honestly, their interior materials and features didn’t match what the Coolray offered. I hesitated a bit because of fuel efficiency—some hybrids like the Corolla claim 3.7L/100km—but after hearing about common issues like clogged filters, battery degradation after 5–6 years, and the cost of replacing batteries (which can go over AED 10,000), I decided to skip the hybrid route. The Coolray was the perfect middle ground: sporty looks, great features, and a price that fits my budget. Sure, it’s missing a few things like a center headrest in the back, rear AC vents, and a trunk cover—but for the price I paid, I can live with that. No one in my family is taller than 170 cm anyway, so space is more than enough for us. As for performance, I’m still in the break-in period, but I’ve tested it on national roads, and overtaking is smooth and easy. The 8-speed gearbox makes driving feel seamless and helps save fuel. The lowest fuel consumption I got was 5.5L/100km, which is around 40 fils per kilometer—really impressive! What surprised me the most was the sound insulation: under 80 km/h, you can’t even hear the engine! It feels like driving an EV. There's just a bit of wind noise, but that’s it. Honestly, the Geely Coolray gave me the experience of a more premium car at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a sporty, economical, and practical ride.

Geely Emgrand GT

I chose the white color — it’s not flashy, but it looks clean and elegant, the kind of design that stays nice over time. The front grille has a distinctive and recognizable look, and the trim I got comes with a full-width rear light bar. Honestly, I didn’t feel it made much of a difference — maybe some people like those kinds of details, but I didn’t find it particularly meaningful. The car has a 360-degree camera and parking sensors, and everything works smoothly. Voice commands are recognized quickly, and the Geely app for remote control works fine, although there’s a slight delay of a few seconds — still acceptable. The automatic headlights are also quite handy. Overall, the car has everything you need — no unnecessary extras or flashy features you’ll never use. One thing I really liked is the physical buttons below the screen — they make things easier and more convenient than having to rely on touch controls. As for fuel consumption, I’ve only driven about 30 km so far in heavy city traffic, and it showed 11.6 L/100 km. But according to other owners, the real-world consumption should be between 7 to 8 liters, so I’ll monitor that more closely over time. When I was buying, I was torn between the Chery Arrizo and the Geely Emgrand. The Arrizo had slightly better performance and more features, but I felt the interior quality was noticeably lower. Even the display unit looked cheap, with too much plastic. Since I wanted a reliable daily car for the family that would last years, I went with the one that felt better built. In the end, I support Chinese brands, and for AED 60,000, I believe the Geely Emgrand was the right choice.
