I wanted to share my experience with the Nissan Patrol Y62 XE, a full-size 4x4 SUV that’s well known, especially among off-road enthusiasts. At first glance, the front and rear LED headlights have an aggressive design and are very noticeable at night, which adds a sense of safety and confidence. The vehicle is massive — nearly 5.2 meters long — and you definitely feel its size when you first get behind the wheel, especially if you’ve never driven an SUV this big. It comes with 18-inch alloy wheels and 4-piston calipers, giving you solid braking power and control. Inside, it has 7 velvet-upholstered seats and a simple design overall. The dashboard has a noticeable plastic feel, and it doesn’t come with the latest tech from the factory. But as most people know, modifying a Patrol is part of its identity, and once customized, it transforms completely. The interior space is huge, and the comfort is exceptional — Nissan’s seats truly feel like sofas. The center console features four drive modes: snow, sand, on-road, and rock. It also comes with a rear differential lock and full 4WD control with high and low range modes, giving you flexibility for both city driving and extreme off-road conditions. Performance-wise, it’s powered by a naturally aspirated 4.0L V6 engine paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission, delivering 380 horsepower and 394 Nm of torque, which is even stronger than some Land Cruiser trims. However, fuel consumption is around 19 L/100 km, which is honestly a downside for daily use. The chassis is body-on-frame, with independent front and rear suspension, which improves comfort significantly. That said, it doesn’t have the Torsen center differential like the Land Cruiser, so the response and traction control aren’t quite as sharp. Cabin noise insulation is also a bit weaker compared to the Land Cruiser. But thanks to the independent suspension, ride comfort is excellent, especially on long drives or when carrying passengers. In summary, the Patrol didn’t become this popular by accident — its looks, torque, comfort, and off-road capabilities are all outstanding. And if you compare it to the Land Cruiser, you’re getting a powerful performance at a more affordable price.
